Everyone has been eagerly anticipating the upcoming release on So So Def
from West Coast Legend and Multi Platinum Producer Daz Dillinger, but along with
this much anticipated release DPGC has been making other moves in the '06 that
have not only the West Coast, but the whole country talking. Last Week DPGC released
a statement via their website that they have aligned themselves with California’s
premier DJ’s DJ Strong and DJ Warrior, DPGC is also gearing up for the release of
Kurupt AKA Young Gotti’s solo album “Same Day Different Shit” in March. Perhaps
one of the more interesting moves DPGC has taken is in the reality realm with the
“DPGC Idol” reality show. This show is based on 6 individuals selected to compete
in order to secure a recording deal with DPG and have an album produced by Daz
himself. HoodStars.net was able to catch up with one of the contestants in the DPGC Idol show who goes by the name of 'Chaotic' .... .... ....
Q: For those out there not right now knowin about this DPGC Idol thing, let em know who
who you are and where you are from and your current status with DPGC?
A: I'. Chaotic. I'm originally from San Jose, California but reside in the Washington
DC Metropolitan Area. My status with DPGC, is that I am a contestant in their reality
show the DPGC Idol.
Q: Explain to us the show and how we can watch it from our homes?
A: The show is crazy! Its basically six rappers who all have major drive and major
flow that are competing requested tasks from the judges in order to prove they have
what it takes to function on an independent level and become an asset to the DPGC
and their movement. The show can be viewed on DPG TV in California and also through
Webisodes on the DPGC website d-p-g-c.com this will all be starting in the month of
February.
Q: What can we get from some of the artists involved in the competition?

Daz and Kurupt grind like no other in this game. We just getting a small taste of what it's like to see if we can withstand the pressure

A: We cover all sides of this shit man, we got my man J Trips from LA who brings that
tight West Coast G’d up flavor, Brian Taylor who reps the bay with his ill flow and
lyrics, Dangerous Rob from Tulsa, Oklahoma who is an OG in the game killin it, Meko
from ATL who brings that dirty south flow and phenomenal raps, Lix who is in Jersey
by way of Seattle who can spit with the best of them and then myself.
Q: Funny you just say yourself because allot off people have noticed, well that
you’re white and well… DPGC is dubbed as a “Gangsta Rap” Label, how do you feel
about that?
A: (laughs) Well I just advise the critics to open the book before judging the
cover..In all honesty man I realize that people remain in question about what I can
do and quiet honestly I don’t give a fuck if I was pink, green or gray, you still
going to get that banging music that will make you move, get high or drunk and feel
good when dealing with me. I have been in this game for a while and always had to
go Against the Grain, but once people peep my music or get to know me..The color
thing ain't an issue, they realize I’m just like them..
Q: What kind of tasks has DPGC been requesting the contestants do?
A: It ain’t no Fear Factor Shit or nothing, haha.. This is on some real do something
for yourself and be on super mash mode type shit. We ain’t just going to a corner and
battle rapping, that would be easy. The judges have us grinding on the business end,
promotions, marketing, booking shows, forming street teams and DJ squads and of course
writing and recording until we pass out. This is the real deal…Daz and Kurupt grind
like no other in this game.. We just getting a small taste of what it’s like to see
if we can withstand the pressure.
Q: You say recording, are there going to be any projects as a result of the
competition?
A: Fa show..We got a mixtape dropping within the next month that Daz will be hosting
called “The Next DPGeneration”. It will have songs from all the contestants.. Mixtape
Freestyles, Colabs and full songs…the shit is crazy so be on that lookout in a hood near you.
Q: How is everyone getting along? Is everyone working together or is there the drama we always see on reality TV?

don't give a fuck if I was pink, green or gray, you still going to get that banging music that will make you move, get high or drunk and feel good when dealing with me

A; Ahh Man, no drama at all.. We all like brothers.. We got much respect for each other…We all feel each others music and hustle.. This contest is no joke and we are working together as a unit.
Q: Like G Unit?
A: (laughs) next question..
Q: How does everyone feel working with Daz and Kurupt?
A: I mean how would someone feel working with Phil Jackson and Pat Riley? Daz and Kurupt are legends man.. They been doing it going on 15 years.. Kurupt is a lyrical genius and Daz is the best of both worlds on the production and mic…We are all getting the best guidance possible and they are holding us down by providing us with the necessary minds to make it in this game..shout out to Kurupt and Daz----Daz and Kurupt!!!
Q: Any Final thoughts before we let you get back to your grind?
